Joe Fletcher and his wife Christine moved to New York City shortly after their wedding in 1980. They both served as teachers at Manhattan Christian Academy. They also ran the children’s department at Manhattan Bible Church.
In 1982, Joe felt the call of God to plant a church in the Bronx. In March of 1983, he founded Bronx Bible Church in Parkchester. Bronx Bible Church met in seven different locations in several neighborhoods over a 30 year period of time. In July of 2001, they moved into the Bronx River community. It was in this neighborhood that the church began to flourish and see the blessing of God.
Shortly after moving to Bronx River, BBC opened up a food pantry. This pantry continues to serve the community. In 2007 BBC opened the Premier After School Program. This ministry serves dozens of children every school day and is planting a spiritual foundation in the lives of these kids that will stay with them even when they are adults.
In 2011, BBC launched a 2nd location at the Sonia Sotomayor Community Center on Rosedale Ave. It was their vision to reach many neighborhoods with the Gospel—not just Bronx River.
Only a half a block away from Bronx Bible Church was the Bronx River Community Center. Infinity New York Church rented this facility every Sunday morning since 2006. The Pastor of Infinity New York Church, Dimas Salaberrios, and Joe became good friends over the years. They shared a common faith and a common vision. In 2013 both churches made the unheard-of decision to unite two churches into one! The Bible talks about one chasing away a thousand and two chasing away ten thousand. Both pastors and churches believe that they can multiply their impact by combining forces. Currently, Pastor Dimas and Pastor Joe serve together as co-pastors of Infinity Bible Church.
Pastor Joe has been happily married for 33 years to his wife Christine. They have one daughter named Barbara Jean. Barbara is grown and married and she and her husband are an active part of Infinity Bible Church.
